Gold Aluminum Foil for Air Conditioning:
Gold aluminum foil for air conditioning is not simply a colored product; rather, it is a functional heat exchange substrate with a dual-coating system consisting of a titanium-zirconium passivation base layer and a golden hydrophilic surface layer. Its distinctive golden appearance originates from the synergistic color-enhancing effect of the underlying conversion film and the colored hydrophilic resin on the surface, offering three core values: long-lasting corrosion resistance, high-efficiency hydrophilicity, and stable molding. As a differentiated coating product line of Haomei Aluminum, the gold hydrophilic aluminum foil is mass-produced using a self-developed coating formula and continuous roll coating production line. It primarily targets mid-to-high-end residential air conditioners and commercial multi-split systems for refrigeration and heat exchange. The product has passed EU RoHS and REACH environmental certifications and is currently exported in bulk to several major air conditioning manufacturers in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and South America.

The core technology of the golden hydrophilic coating lies in the synergistic composite structure of the underlying passivation film and the surface hydrophilic film. The bottom layer employs a titanium-zirconium-based chromium-free passivation treatment, forming a dense conversion film approximately 20–50 nm thick on the aluminum substrate surface. The film weight is controlled at 0.8–1.2 g/m². This metal oxide layer forms the base color of the gold hue and also serves as the first line of defense against corrosion. The top layer is a modified acrylic-based gold hydrophilic resin coating, approximately 1–2 μm thick, containing special hydrophilic groups and color-developing components. It provides a uniform gold appearance while achieving long-lasting hydrophilic properties. Both coatings are continuously cured using a roller coating process, achieving an adhesion rating of 0 in the cross-cut adhesion test. After 200 cycles of thermal shock, there was no peeling or cracking, demonstrating significantly better long-term operational stability than ordinary single-layer hydrophilic coating products.
Long-lasting corrosion resistance is the core advantage of this gold hydrophilic aluminum foil compared to conventional blue hydrophilic aluminum foil. Thanks to the dense barrier effect of the titanium-zirconium passivation film and the shielding effect of the gold organic coating, the neutral salt spray test time of the gold hydrophilic aluminum foil consistently reaches 500–720 hours, which is 3–4 times that of ordinary plain aluminum foil for air conditioner and also superior to the industry average of 300–500 hours for conventional blue hydrophilic aluminum foil. For customers in coastal areas with high salt spray, we can also provide an enhanced gold anti-corrosion solution, which increases the salt spray tolerance time to over 1000 hours by thickening the passivation film and adding corrosion inhibitor components. Real-world testing feedback from customers in coastal Brazil shows that air conditioner outdoor units using gold hydrophilic aluminum foil showed no obvious rust spots on the fin surface after three years of operation, with a significantly higher appearance integrity than similar products using ordinary coated foil.
Hydrophilic heat transfer performance is the core functional indicator of gold hydrophilic aluminum foil. The surface hydrophilic resin contains a large number of hydroxyl and ether bonds, resulting in a stable water contact angle of ≤15° and an initial hydrophilic angle of less than 10°. Condensate can quickly spread into a uniform water film on the fin surface and flow out smoothly, effectively eliminating the “water bridge” phenomenon between fins and reducing ventilation resistance by approximately 8%–12%. Actual measurements show that the overall heat exchange efficiency is 5%–7% higher than that of plain foil. Our coating formula has been optimized for water aging resistance; after 500 hours of continuous condensate flushing, the hydrophilic angle decreases by ≤5°, demonstrating long-term hydrophilic stability superior to the industry average, ensuring that the heat exchange efficiency does not significantly decrease throughout the entire lifespan of the air conditioner.
In terms of molding compatibility and mass production stability, the gold hydrophilic aluminum foil is fully compatible with mainstream high-speed stamping processes. The coating surface friction coefficient is controlled within an optimized range of 0.15–0.25. Combined with 8011 or 3003 substrates in H22/H24 condition, it can stably adapt to fin production lines with a stroke rate exceeding 1000 strokes/minute. There is no coating peeling or chip buildup during the stamping process, and the fin edge cracking rate is ≤0.3%. Our coating production line is equipped with an online thickness measurement and color difference monitoring system, ensuring batch-to-batch color difference ΔE ≤2.0, guaranteeing consistent appearance for large-volume supplies. Coil widths cover 150–1250mm, using 76mm/152mm standard cores, allowing direct connection to existing customer production equipment.
As a differentiated product combining performance enhancement and visual appeal, gold air conditioning aluminum foil is becoming the preferred solution for more and more air conditioning manufacturers upgrading their product positioning. Haomei Aluminum can customize coating formulations and substrate selections according to customers’ specific operating conditions, cost targets, and appearance requirements, providing global customers with reliable, high-quality hydrophilic fin material solutions with a uniform appearance.
